Angina is an acute infectious disease that mainly affects the tonsils (tonsils). Often caused by bacteria (e.g., streptococci) or viruses. The main symptoms include a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, fever, general malaise, enlarged and red tonsils, sometimes a white coating or purulent plugs on the tonsils.
Treatment depends on the cause: bacterial sore throat is treated with antibiotics, while viral sore throat requires symptomatic therapy. Oral hygiene, plenty of fluids, and rest are important.
