Congestion is a disruption in the normal movement of fluids in the body, such as blood, lymph or secretions, which leads to their accumulation in certain areas of tissues or organs. This can lead to a deterioration in the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues, as well as create conditions for the development of inflammation, swelling or infections.

The main causes of congestion are a sedentary lifestyle, cardiovascular diseases, impaired venous outflow (for example, with varicose veins), tissue compression, injuries or chronic inflammatory diseases. In the lungs, congestion can occur due to heart failure, which leads to fluid accumulation and breathing difficulties.

Treatment of congestion depends on the cause and may include physical activity, massage, compression bandages, diuretics, as well as treatment of the underlying disease. To prevent congestion, it is recommended to follow an active lifestyle, maintain healthy blood circulation and control the presence of chronic diseases. If congestion is suspected, it is necessary to consult a doctor for diagnosis and treatment.
