Bornyl acetate is an ester formed by borneol and acetic acid. It is a natural component of essential oils, especially laurel, sage and fir. It has a pleasant camphoric, fresh aroma, due to which it is widely used in perfumery and aromatherapy.
Pharmacologically, boronyl acetate exhibits anti-inflammatory, sedative and antiseptic effects. In traditional medicine, it is used as a sedative and relaxant, as well as to improve breathing in colds.
