Emmenagogic effect

The emmenagogic effect is the ability of a substance or drug to stimulate or induce menstruation. Some medicinal plants, such as parsley, wormwood or tansy, can have this effect.

The use of emmenagogues requires caution, especially during pregnancy, as they can have an abortive effect.
