Gallic acid

Gallic acid is a naturally occurring phenolic compound belonging to the polyphenol group, which is one of the most abundant plant antioxidants. It is found in tannins found in tea, grapes, oak bark, nuts and various medicinal herbs. Due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, gallic acid is widely used in medicine, cosmetology, and the food industry.

Gallic acid has the ability to neutralize free radicals, preventing oxidative stress and premature aging of cells. It also has a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect, reducing the manifestations of inflammatory processes in the skin, joints and internal organs. The antimicrobial properties of gallic acid make it an effective remedy for fighting bacteria, fungi and viruses, which explains its use in traditional medicine and the production of natural antiseptics.

Due to its ability to inhibit the growth of some tumor cells, gallic acid is being investigated as a promising anti-cancer agent. It is also an ingredient in cosmetic skin care products, where it is used to lighten age spots, reduce inflammation and maintain youthful skin. In the food industry, gallic acid is used as a natural preservative, as it prevents the oxidation of products and prolongs their shelf life.
