Hyperthyroidism

30.10.2026 | Natalia Kandybey

Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland produces excessive amounts of thyroid hormones. This excess accelerates metabolism and affects the cardiovascular, nervous, and other body systems.

Possible symptoms include a rapid heartbeat, excessive sweating, hand tremors, irritability, heat intolerance, and weight loss. Common causes include Graves’ disease and overactive thyroid nodules. Diagnosis involves measuring TSH and thyroid hormone levels, while treatment depends on the underlying cause and severity of the condition.
