Remission is a period of time when the symptoms of a chronic disease temporarily improve or disappear. This can happen on its own or under the influence of treatment. During remission, the patient may feel better and not experience the symptoms typical of the disease.
Remission can be complete, when the symptoms disappear completely, or partial, when they decrease in intensity. It is important to note that remission does not mean a complete cure and may be temporary. Chronic disease management aims to achieve and maintain remission in order to improve the quality of life of patients.
