Beta-carotene is a naturally occurring pigment and antioxidant that belongs to the class of carotenoids that provide the yellow and orange color of many fruits and vegetables. Beta-carotene is also a precursor to vitamin A in the human body, making it an important nutrient.

This carotenoid enriches plant-based foods such as carrots, sweet potatoes, apricots, spinach and melon, giving them their characteristic color. Beta-carotene has antioxidant properties, protecting the body’s cells from free radical damage. In addition, it is important for vision, as vitamin A is formed from it in the body, which is necessary for maintaining a healthy cornea and normal vision function.
