Description

Composition:

active ingredients: levomenthol, methyl salicylate;

1 g of ointment contains levomenthol 39 mg, methyl salicylate 202 mg;

excipients: soft white paraffin, paraffin.

Methyl salicylate has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, irritating and distracting effects, which are based on the effect on the increased permeability of capillaries, microcirculation processes, inhibition of the activity of inflammatory mediators, including bradykinin, which has an algogenic effect. Irritation of sensitive nerve endings with menthol causes a mild local anesthetic effect.

Indication.

Rheumatism, sciatica, arthritis, neuralgia, exudative pleurisy.

Contraindication.

Increased individual sensitivity to the drug. Skin disease; injuries, skin wounds at the place of application of the drug.

Hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid, ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, especially if there is a history of bronchial asthma.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.

Although sufficiently controlled interaction trials have not been conducted, it is possible that excessive topical salicylates may increase the effect of coumarin anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs. In this regard, patients taking coumarin anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs, including aspirin, should exercise caution.

Features of application.

The drug is intended for external use only.

Before using the drug, it is first necessary to apply it to a small area of the skin to prevent the development of allergic reactions.

Some patients, especially those with sensitive skin, may experience discomfort when used in the heat or after taking a bath.

Apply the drug to undamaged areas of the skin.

Do not use with an occlusive dressing.

Avoid contact with eyes and sensitive skin. If the cream accidentally gets into the eyes, it is necessary to wash them with water and immediately consult a doctor.

Do not apply to persons prone to allergic reactions to the components of the drug.

When rubbed into the skin, it causes a sensation of cold, then warmth, slight burning and tingling.

After each use of the ointment, wash your hands thoroughly. In case of strong skin irritation, rubbing should be stopped.

In case of accidental ingestion of the drug, contact a doctor or the nearest emergency room.

The drug contains salicylates, which are aspirin-like substances, so precautions regarding the use of aspirin should be taken into account.

Method of application and dosage.

Use the drug externally. Rub 2-3 times a day into painful areas of the body, including the chest (for pleurisy). After rubbing the ointment, it is recommended to apply a dry warming bandage. The duration of use is determined by the nature and severity of the disease, the nature of concomitant therapy, and the effect achieved.

Children. Do not use for children under 3 years of age due to the menthol content in the drug.

Overdose.

Sensation of strong heat and burning in the place of application of the ointment or increased manifestations of adverse reactions.

Undesirable effects.

Allergic reactions to the components of the drug are possible. Skin burns, blisters and temporary skin reactions including redness, burning and rash are possible.

A feeling of cold, then heat, tingling is possible; itching, urticaria; contact dermatitis.
