A condition that occurs in response to long-term stress and overexertion, often related to work or other areas of life, is called burnout. It is characterized by feelings of exhaustion, apathy, and feelings of helplessness. People who suffer from burnout may feel a loss of motivation, decreased productivity, and alienated from those around them.

Burnout often occurs in professionals in caring industries such as medicine, education, and social work, but it can affect anyone. Prevention and treatment of burnout includes stress reduction measures, self-care practices, counseling with psychologists and psychotherapists, and support from loved ones and colleagues. It is important to recognize the signs of this condition and act in a timely manner to maintain psychological and physical health.
