Coughing is a protective reflex response of the body to clear the airways of mucus, dust, or foreign bodies. It can be dry or wet.
It accompanies many diseases: colds, bronchitis, acute respiratory viral infections, pneumonia, allergies. According to the duration, the cough is conventionally divided into acute (up to 3 weeks), subacute (3-8 weeks) and chronic (more than 8 weeks). Treatment depends on the cause and type of cough.
