A drug for normalizing the functions of the gallbladder and its ducts
A natural medicine that stimulates the secretion of bile, normalizes the tone of the gallbladder, reduces the content of bilirubin and bile acids, increases diuresis and the secretory activity of the stomach and pancreas.
Sandwort flowers contain fatty acids, inositol, essential oil, flavonoids, steroid compounds, phenolic dyes, due to which a pronounced choleretic effect is observed.
If you suffer from gallstone disease, chronic cholecystitis, cholecystoangiocolitis, dyskinesia of the biliary tract, you should include a decoction of the flowers of sand cumin in your treatment program. The main physical and chemical properties:
Solid raw material: spherical baskets, single or several together on short woolly-felt peduncles up to 1 cm long, about 7 mm in diameter. The baskets consist of numerous flowers located on a bare inflorescence, surrounded by numerous loosely pressed wrapper leaves. All flowers are tubular, five-toothed, bisexual, with a fringe. The leaves of the wrapper are concave, dry, membranous, shiny, outer – ovate, middle – lobed, elongated, inner – narrow, linear.
The color of the wrapper is lemon-yellow, the flowers are lemon-yellow or orange. The smell is weak, pleasant. The taste is spicy and bitter.

Pharmacological properties.
Pharmacodynamics.
Cumin preparations, which contain flavonoids, diterpene alcohol, steroid compounds, phenolic dyes, fatty acids, inositol, essential oil, belong to choleretics, increase bile secretion, reduce the concentration of bile acids and the content of bilirubin in bile, change the ratio of cholesterol / bile acids in side of increasing cholates, strengthen the tone of the gallbladder, stimulate the secretory function of the stomach and pancreas, increase diuresis.
Clinical characteristics.
Indication.
Use as a choleretic agent in chronic diseases of the liver and gallbladder (chronic cholecystitis, cholecystoangiocolitis, gallstone disease, chronic hepatitis, biliary tract dyskinesia).
Contraindication.
Increased individual sensitivity to the drug. Obstructive jaundice, gallstone disease with the presence of stones larger than 10 mm in diameter. Acute inflammatory diseases of the liver, gall bladder and pancreas. Children’s age up to 3 years.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.

Method of application and dosage.
Put 3–4 g of flowers (1 tablespoon) in an enamel dish, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in boiling water (in a water bath) for 30 minutes. Cool at room temperature and strain. Squeeze the remaining raw material, bring the volume of the obtained infusion to 200 ml with boiled water.
Put 2 filter bags in a glass or enamel container, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of boiling water, cover and insist for 15 minutes.
Adults take 1/2 cup warm 2-3 times a day 15-20 minutes before meals. Children aged 3-7 years – 1 dessert spoon, 7-12 years – 1 tablespoon, 12-14 years – 2 tablespoons, over 14 years – 1/4 cup 2-3 times a day for 15- 20 minutes before eating.
It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.
The duration of the treatment course is determined individually, taking into account the nature, degree of severity and peculiarities of the course of the disease, the stability of the achieved therapeutic effect and the tolerability of the drug.
Children.
Apply to children over 3 years of age as prescribed by a doctor.

Adverse reactions.
Possible occurrence of allergic reactions (including rashes, urticaria, itching, hyperemia and swelling of the skin), increase in blood pressure (with long-term use in patients with arterial hypertension).

Storage conditions.
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not higher than 25 °C in a place inaccessible to children. Store the prepared decoction in a cool place for no more than 2 days.
