The gut microbiome is the collection of microorganisms that inhabit the human digestive tract. It plays a key role in digestion, vitamin synthesis, immune response, and protection against pathogens.

An imbalance in the microbiome (dysbiosis) can lead to digestive disorders, inflammation, and metabolic disorders.
