Hemoglobin is a protein found in red blood cells that is responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to body tissues and carbon dioxide in the opposite direction. It contains iron, which enables oxygen binding.

Hemoglobin level is an important indicator of blood health and overall health. A decrease may indicate anemia, blood loss, or iron deficiency.
