How, thanks to the installation of the AccurioPress 6120 production system, they created a closed production cycle, increasing their own autonomy.

Viola Pharmaceutical Factory is a modern enterprise that has been working on the creation of medicines since 1945 and is one of the top 10 manufacturers in Ukraine.

More than 200 medicines are produced: tinctures, liquid extracts, alcohol and aqueous solutions, ointments, pastes, liniments, syrups, powders, dosed medicinal plant raw materials, etc.

Every day, thousands of drugs are shipped at the production site, putting instructions for use in the packaging. Prior to cooperation with Konica Minolta Ukraine, the company pre-ordered printed products in offset editions from contractors. However, they decided to switch from large circulations to their own digital production.

We chose the AccurioPress 6120, a production system with the highest performance. It prints up to 7490 A4 pages per hour, has a high-speed colour scanner and automatic adjustment of saturation and registration.

Currently, the factory has completely abandoned orders in printing houses and covers all its printing needs on its own with the CRD center — one AccurioPress 6120 digital system.

They print instructions for their own preparations on A4 and A3 paper on two materials: newsprint and offset paper. The planned number of prints is 2.7 million instructions per month. For a small printing house of their own at the Viola factory, a room was allocated in the office, where they plan to work in shifts for even greater productivity.

“Among the company’s values is the continuous development of technology, so the installation of digital equipment is also included in the technological development plan,” comments Denys Ogurtsov.

Printing directly at the enterprise has several advantages:

  • Price. Independent printing of materials, rather than ordering them from contractors, makes it possible to reduce the final cost of the product, which is produced by FF “Viola”.
  • Independence from the market. Before installing its own equipment, the factory could not produce any of its own products without the help of printing partners. Now, thanks to the AccurioPress 6120, production workers are able to print instructions on their own, according to their own plan, without queuing or delaying other customers’ printing. The CRD center works only for the Viola factory, where before the purchase they calculated the equipment that will be fully loaded and will not be idle.
  • Priority management. Thanks to our own equipment, we can adjust the queue and printing time of certain products. The company has its own print queuing policies, and now we can finally influence that.”

Representatives of the Viola factory entered a printing project from the pharmaceutical industry without any experience with printing and systems, so when faced with this for the first time, they had to learn a lot. Manufacturing processes are primarily production and training. And, Konica Minolta Ukraine, in turn, is ready to become a reliable partner in the start of printing activities.
