Sesquiterpene lactones are a class of bioactive compounds found in many medicinal plants, including chamomile, yarrow, and arnica. They have a bitter taste and exhibit anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and immunomodulatory effects.

These substances are being actively researched in the context of developing new plant-based anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agents.
