Stomatitis

Stomatitis is an inflammation of the oral mucosa that manifests as pain, redness, ulcers, or plaque. It may be accompanied by burning, mucosal hypersensitivity, and discomfort while eating.

Causes of stomatitis include infections, microtrauma to the mucosa, allergic reactions, vitamin deficiencies, irritation (such as from hot or spicy food), or a weakened immune system. Management depends on the cause and usually involves topical care and remedies that reduce inflammation and support healing, as recommended by a doctor or dentist.
