Terpenoid Resins

21.07.2025 | Natalia Kandybey

Terpenoid resins are natural resinous substances rich in terpenes and their derivatives (terpenoids) produced mainly by coniferous trees and some herbaceous plants. They serve to protect plants from pests, fungi and mechanical damage.

Resins have complex compositions and often include monoterpenes, diterpenes and their acids. Due to their antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties, terpenoid resins are used in medicine, pharmaceuticals, aromatherapy and the production of therapeutic ointments and plasters.
