Description
Althea root syrup has a pronounced expectorant effect
The drug helps to quickly eliminate cough and speed up recovery. The product contains a dry extract, which includes polysaccharides, amino acids and other biologically active components.
They have a softening and anti-inflammatory effect. Suitable for adults and children from 2 years.
If you suffer from laryngitis, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, tracheitis or whooping cough, try Althea root syrup. The active components of the drug help to increase the secretion of bronchial secretion, as a result of which it is diluted and more easily excreted.
The drug envelops the mucous membrane of the stomach, and also has an anti-inflammatory and cytoprotective effect.
Adults should take the drug 1 tbsp. spoons before meals 4-6 times during the day. Children from 2 to 6 years old need to use 1 teaspoon, but first you should dilute the drug in a small amount of warm boiled water.
Composition:
active substance: dry extract of altea root;
100 ml of syrup contain 0.15 g of dry altea root extract in terms of polysaccharides;
auxiliary substances: methylparaben (E 218), propylparaben (E 216), ethanol 96%, sugar, purified water.

Main physicochemical properties: syrupy liquid from light brown to red-brown in color with a specific smell. In the process of storage, the presence of sediment is allowed.

Pharmacodynamics.
A herbal preparation that contains a dry extract of the altea root, the main biologically active substances of which are polysaccharides, as well as pectins, amino acids and starch. The polysaccharides of the drug are absorbed into the blood, partially secreted by the bronchial glands and have an enveloping, softening and anti-inflammatory effect on the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract, slightly increasing the secretion of the liquid component of the bronchial secretion and normalizing its rheological properties (viscosity, elasticity, adhesiveness). Strengthens the peristaltic movements of the bronchioles and the motor function of the ciliated epithelium of the bronchi, contributing to the removal of sputum. The vegetable polysaccharide mucus of the drug, enveloping the mucous membrane of the stomach, exhibits cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects.

The drug should be prescribed before meals:
adults and children over 14 years old – 1 tablespoon (15 ml) 4-6 times a day;
children aged 6 to 14 years – 1 dessert spoon (10 ml) 4-6 times a day;
children aged 2 to 6 years – 1 teaspoon (5 ml) 4-6 times a day.
For children aged 2 to 6 years, dilute the required amount of syrup in a small amount of boiled water (10-15 ml or 2-3 teaspoons).
The duration of the therapy course is determined by the doctor individually, depending on the effectiveness of the treatment, as a rule, the duration is 7-14 days.
Children.
The drug contains 2% alcohol (in 1 ml of syrup – 0.02 ml of alcohol), so children aged 2 to 6 years should dilute the drug in boiled water before taking it.
Overdose.
Cases of overdose have not been described.
Adverse reactions.
The drug can cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
In case of any unwanted reactions, you should stop the treatment and consult a doctor.
Expiration date.
2 years.
Storage conditions. Store in the original packaging at a temperature not higher than 25 °C. Keep out of the reach of children. After opening, store no more than 14 days at a temperature of 4-8 ºС.
