A cholagogue is a drug or plant that stimulates the production and secretion of bile. It improves fat digestion, intestinal peristalsis, and reduces the risk of gallstone formation.

Cholagogues are divided into choleretics (which increase bile production) and cholekinetics (which stimulate contraction of the gallbladder and bile flow).
